is there anyone who manages an Aruba Cloud wifi

.. as i want to ask a few basic questions as it seems the Virtual Controllers are far too basic for my liking! To the point of not being able to issue out guestpass codes. The management of the software is really really basic. Maybe i'm used to more complex network setups having a Ruckus vSZ!

Aruba Central has a 90 day trial available including licenses.

 

If you have a spare ap to test you can add it but keep to Aruba os 8 as Aruba os 10 currently lacks the built in virtual controller if you want to revert back.

 

Bit of pain to remove it from Aruba central and return it local bc so don’t test with the whole cluster.

I've got an AP which i'm testing which is why i have a few questions to ask. In all honestly, to say thay Aruba is an enterprise product, the system and features are VERY poor!

 

Especially when there is a bolt-on to the Aruba system called ClearPass which is ££££.

 

Couple this with the CtC roll out of Aruba APs and the system just seems a bit Play-School in my opinion!

We have Aruba but we have Mobility Masters and controllers with over 2000 APs. I've setup and managed Ruckus, HP MSM in previous employments and numerous other wifi systems at home.

 

I currently have Aruba OS 8 on some hospitality APs at home and there is slightly more that can be done on the CLI like what should be basic stuff, it doesn't come anywhere close to the Aruba we have at work for overall functionality/features though.

We are thinking how to get the guest wifi to work.

 

The APs are on Aruba 8 and the guest portal is coming up with the HTTPS error when browsing to securelogjn.arubanetworks.com.

 

How do we get round that? Is it a case of buying a public signed cert maybe a wildcard cert with SANs so we can use it across all the schools that have Aruba and now i'm thinking Ruckus too as we have Ruckus at the secondaries.
