Is anyone using FSLogix?

Hi,

 

We are moving away from roaming profiles and looking at using FSLogix and we have set it up but running into a issue which I was wondering if anyone has resolved.

 

If user signs into computer A it will be fine but if they stayed logged into computer A then sign into computer B it will take a while for the login to reach the desktop and it will not load the profile correctly. I have found if you made a change to the GPO then it will load quickly however the profile doesn't seem to load correctly on Computer B as it doesn't keep the icons / preferences.

 

If you have this feature working then please could you let me know what you have done to get it to work.

I thought FSLogix was meant for VDI / RDS environments, would be interesting to see how it works with physical systems

If it's mounting a .vhd for the user, I guess it'll be limited to a single logon rather than multiple concurrent logons.

Is there a better type of profile to use which is compatible with multi device usage?

We had FSLogix running in a physical environment for a while. I think the concurrent login thing is possible using differencing disks (although I don't remember exactly how I set that up!).

 

However our FSLogix profiles often suffered corruption, similar to roaming profiles. Plus it takes up a lot of storage space.

 

Ended up just using local profiles once we shifted our document storage to OneDrive.

By any chance do you remember how much storage it was taking up for a regular user?

 

The issue for us is we can't use local profiles as staff travel around to different computers around the school and will complain about their app preferences not saving

Sorry, not specifically. I do remember it being a lot more than the equivalent roaming profile though. The default max is something like 30GB but I think ours were less than that. Depends on the user too but I seem to remember 5-10GB not being uncommon.

We didn't include Office containers though.

Concurrent logins are possible but should you really? If it’s exam accounts etc you should just exclude them from FSLogix.
