Hi, Has anyone been able to hide options in quick actions in Windows 11? We are trying to hide WiFi and Airplane mode to stop students playing around with the options. I know that I can hide it per user by clicking on the edit at the bottom and it creates a registry key in the below: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Quick Actions\Control Center\Unpinned But if I try to deploy this registry through GPO on the login it breaks the quick actions and stops them from opening for a while and then it will automatically clear out the keys created and go back to default. Thanks,

Hi, How have you got your Microsoft Always on VPN Device tunnel deployed? I have have user tunnel working correctly already but I have looked online with deploying through GPO and it doesn't add anything. I have currently have a computer GPO with a startup script which runs the below powershell script but I maybe missing something as it won't add anything. (We currently do not have SCCM setup) $ProfileName = 'Always On VPN - Device'$ProfileXML = ' VPN Server NameIKEv2 CertificateSplitTunnel true DC 1 IP Address32 DC 2 IP Address32 IP Range true truetrue'$ProfileNameEscaped = $ProfileName -replace ' ', '%20'$ProfileXML = $ProfileXML -replace '<', '<'$ProfileXML = $ProfileXML -replace '>', '>'$ProfileXML = $ProfileXML -replace '"', '"'$nodeCSPURI = './Vendor/MSFT/VPNv2'$namespaceName = "root\cimv2\mdm\dmmap"$className = "MDM_VPNv2_01"$session = New-CimSessiontry { $newInstance = New-Object Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimInstance $className, $namespaceName $property = [Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimProperty]::Create("ParentID", "$nodeCSPURI", 'String', 'Key') $newInstance.CimInstanceProperties.Add($property) $property = [Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimProperty]::Create("InstanceID", "$ProfileNameEscaped", 'String', 'Key') $newInstance.CimInstanceProperties.Add($property) $property = [Microsoft.Management.Infrastructure.CimProperty]::Create("ProfileXML", "$ProfileXML", 'String', 'Property') $newInstance.CimInstanceProperties.Add($property) $session.CreateInstance($namespaceName, $newInstance) $Message = "Created $ProfileName profile." Write-Host "$Message"}catch [Exception] { $Message = "Unable to create $ProfileName profile: $_" Write-Host "$Message" exit}$Message = "Complete."Write-Host "$Message" Looking online I have seen bits about using PSexec but Sophos is blocking it and looking online there is conflicting advice if it should be allowed or not. Thanks

[23h2] Windows 11 Removing Terminal from Start Menu
KieranL replied to KieranL's topic in Windows 11
Thanks. That worked -
Hi, We have moved to Windows 11 this summer and changed the student profile over to a local profile. However, currently we have terminal on the start menu and struggling to remove it currently. I have tried using this PowerShell script on the PC Start up script but it does not remove it. Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *WindowsTerminal* | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers Has anyone managed to remove it through gpo, registry or scripting? Thanks,

Hi, What Mac OS are you running and are you using the option to mount home directories from a UNC path? We are currently running Mac OS Mojave on our macs and they were never updated and they work well. These are managed through JamF school and are active directory bound with UNC home profiles. However, we are trying to update to a newer version of Mac OS Monterey and it gets stuck spinning after trying to log in. I have tried turning off the UNC path option on the macs and using local home profiles and it logs straight in with no issues which makes it seem likes its having issues loading the home profile. I have tried deleting the home profile so its blank incase it was corrupt, giving the user full access to the share and still getting stuck. Thanks,
-
Hi All, I am currently rebuilding our Mac build with a newer OS but due to the way that Mac OS have changed their OS I cannot use Mac Binding with SMB home shares as it doesn't seem to work. How do you have your Mac's configured with what OS? I have started looking at Nomad but just trying to get it to work with SMB Home folders as this is important as the students work on different macs each time. Thanks,

Hi, I have force local home directory's unchecked and I have the UNC path from active directory set instead.
-
Hi, Thanks unfortunately it is doing it on a fresh OS install so there isn't a antivirus installed.
-
Hi, Thanks this is what I have done I will give it another go as I have changed quite a few settings since. Have you got a similar setup?

Thanks. By any chance do you remember how much storage it was taking up for a regular user? The issue for us is we can't use local profiles as staff travel around to different computers around the school and will complain about their app preferences not saving

That's what I am thinking. Is there a better type of profile to use which is compatible with multi device usage?

Hi, We are moving away from roaming profiles and looking at using FSLogix and we have set it up but running into a issue which I was wondering if anyone has resolved. If user signs into computer A it will be fine but if they stayed logged into computer A then sign into computer B it will take a while for the login to reach the desktop and it will not load the profile correctly. I have found if you made a change to the GPO then it will load quickly however the profile doesn't seem to load correctly on Computer B as it doesn't keep the icons / preferences. If you have this feature working then please could you let me know what you have done to get it to work. Thanks!
-
Yes it must be the roaming profile it doesn't like as a account with a local profile instead of a roaming profile works correctly. As a test I have tried construct3 in firefox as a test with a roaming profile (This is not something we usually use) and it works correctly.
-
Yes we are using roaming profiles

It works opening it from the C drive but from a network share / network drive it provides the error. Maybe some permissions issue. I have tried as you said and creating a subfolder with just the file in and it still provides the error.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is using Construct 3 in their school? Our ICT teachers want to start using it and as it is browser based. However, currently if a user tries to select a file it gives a error message of: "editor.construct.net can't open files in this folder because it contains system files". If we try with a local user then it works correctly. If you have come access this issue, did you find the cause? Thanks

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has rolled out LAPS on Mac OS? If so what did you use as there seem to be quite a few available online. We are using Jamf School to manage our Macs. Thanks Kieran

Hi, Our Post 16 centre is currently using a Google Form to track student attendance for enrichment which then has a google sheet with formulas in to be able to get some statistics. However, it is not the best way as it can get messy and confusing for the people that manage the attendance. So I was looking around for a cloud based system that will be able to do what we want however the post 16 team want the system to allow for students to self register themselves to the class every time. I have taken a look at Inventry Clubreg and SOCS but they require the teacher to complete a register. What we need the system to do: Allow the students to self register on their own devices Have a management side so that the post16 team can track attendance Have some sort of statistics so that it can be presented I was wondering if anyone is using anything which would work well for us? Thanks, Kieran

Hi, Our current process is to use G Suite eDiscovery for Subject Access Requests and then we export them as a PST and then use a macro to save all of the emails and attachments into a folder. However, if there is a lot of PST's then this can take a while as you have to manually go into each PST and then run the macro. I was wondering if anyone has found a addon / software which makes the process a lot quicker? By exporting the files as PDF's? And maybe also filtering it down to remove duplicates? Thanks!

Hi, We currently have a issue where Microsoft Edge automatically opens on login. For students it will open twice. One with our internal site in the search bar and one which has a empty search bar. But for staff it just opens once with our internal site. Has anyone had this issue before? Thanks

Thanks. I have now made a SIMS report with the macro in. What is the best way to get it to run automatically each day?
-
Hi, I have currently made a SIMS report with macros built in and it works correctly if ran manually. However, I want the report to run automatically and for the Macros to load with it. I have tried commandreporter however this only seems to save the excel file as a .csv but I am after a .xlsm. Is this possible? Thanks
