plumyeti Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Hello, Having some trouble enrolling iPhones to our Apple School Manager. Currently using my personal phone with configurator. (iPhone 14 using mobile data) I have 2 issues. Fails enrollment due to network issue. Doesn't appear in JAMF after being assigned. If I manually enter the WiFi it goes onto the next screen so I can't enroll it. Any suggestions, I'm still very new to all Apple School Manager?
Cazab Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Have you assigned the device to your MDM in Apple School Manager?
plumyeti Posted June 14, 2023 Author Posted June 14, 2023 Have you assigned the device to your MDM in Apple School Manager? Yes, MDM is assigned in Apple School manager. The bigger issue it being able to get them onto Apple School manager. To be able to assign the MDM.
Cazab Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 If they're new bought from a certified Apple reseller, you can usually ask them to add the devices to your organisation in Apple School Manager. Otherwise you need an Apple Device with Apple Configurator 2.5 to manually enrol them. Jamf also offers other ways such as visiting a website, or scanning a QR code.
plumyeti Posted June 14, 2023 Author Posted June 14, 2023 I have been using Apple Configurator on a personal iPhone. Not sure if that's 2.5 or not. Enrolling fails and gives an error of not being able to get an internet connection.

Are you using device assigned enrolment or user assigned enrolment ? This where you can have both your personal Apple ID and the MAID on the same device and work and personal data are encrypted and separated https://docs.jamf.com/10.28.0/jamf-pro/administrator-guide/Mobile_Device_PreStage_Enrollments.html https://docs.jamf.com/10.26.0/jamf-pro/administrator-guide/User_Assignments.html The 1st place to look is whether the iPhone appears in ASM
plumyeti Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 I think I should've been more specific. My main issue is getting them into Apple School manager. Once they are in Apple School manager. I can get them into Jamf. When trying to enroll them into Apple School Manager, using Apple Configurator on an iPhone, I get a cannot get an internet connection or similar error.

Are these purchased new iPhones? If so you could get them added via DEP through the reseller. If they're not new, i.e refurbished are they on IOS 16? as that I believe is the required IOS for both the phone with configurator on and the device being configured.
plumyeti Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 The phones are on contract through our Phone company. They were unable to add them.

plumyeti Posted June 15, 2023 Author Posted June 15, 2023 Yes I have. Usually, works completely fine when enrolling Macs
