What do you guys display on digital signage?

Are you updating it daily or weekly?

We are currently using Xibo and looking at ways to improve how we do things.

One of our assistant principals puts together 5-10 slides with upcoming events on a weekly basis.

At the moment we've got a couple of careers things going on this week, and the Year 11 exam/revision timetables are circulating.

When we have open evenings/parents evenings/other community events, I play our promo video on loop :)

There was a push to have exemplar work on there too, but the teachers got tired of taking pictures of books and emailing it in.

We're also using Xibo btw

We currently have a Google Slides slideshow, updated by the admin staff whenever wanted. We're aiming to add another display screen in the front lobby and are thinking about what content we want on there. As we'll be adding a new access control system over the summer, I'm currently looking at how to get live updates from that to render a page of staff-currently-in-the-building.

I'd say the best way is to try and get information from places it already is, rather than getting staff to enter or create information. So pull in from calendar, external systems, MIS, social media, etc. Even better if you can set a single point of 'truth'.

That way you get fresh content with minimal effort. Sites that offer daily/weekly content are great if you can get the content into Xibo.

You then only have to create special content for events or one off information.

We normally have more than 1 feed on each display. Central content goes everywhere and is updated daily by our Marketing and Comms team. Local content is controlled by a few local users who can upload their own content as and when they want to. All we do is manage the hardware!

We have news screens around the school that combine, in school stuff like upcoming events, revision timetables, behavior posters (anything that would have otherwise been printed and blue-tacked to the walls), with BBC news RSS and the weather feed from our school's weather station.

Library has their own which includes a feed of recently added books and the in-school news/posters, main reception screen shows rolling promo videos under a generic welcome message with a tickertape feed from our twitter, PE kind of do their own thing with the sports hall screen (they mostly have upcoming events and alum that have made it big). The screens outside the dining hall switch over to showing todays menu at lunch time.

Parent's evening we normally have maps of where to find the teachers (one day I'll get them to stop taping last minute changes to bottom of the screen), and there's a whole raft of custom promo stuff that comes out for open evenings.

I also sneak a happy Christmas/Easter/Summer message up on the last day of term.

The social media team manages putting things into the in-school new feed (using Xbo's Datasets so there's no faffing with layouts), and everything else is either pulled from other RSS feeds, or one off stuff.

And we use Xibo too.
