Windows 10 Update 1809 to 22H2

Hi all

 

Started new job on monday!

 

I am looking to deploy spiceworks to network just so it can give me audit on current PC stock for memory, cpu etc as the audi is non existent here!

 

All desktops i noticed is version 1809

 

They use windows LTSB here too! As tried to update via microsoft site https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10 but apparabtlyt LTSB not compatible there!

 

We have SCCM - no wsus

 

What is the best way to get the machines to latest version? I am not used to SCCM to be honest so thats bit if minefield at present!

Firstly, congrats! Secondly, SCCM is a big beast to learn and best doing it once you're settled and used to your new environment. I wonder if the quickest (not long term - that would be SCCM with WSUS integrated) method would be to download the latest LTSC ISO (assuming you'd stick with LTSC) and creating a bunch of bootable USB drives (or even copying the ISO to each machine's local C:\ drive) and running the setup on the machines individually, allowing them to perform the in-place upgrade. Though if you want to convert from LTSC to CB, I believe you'd need to run a command or something to convert the type from LTSC to CB.

You can switch from LTSB to standard Windows by downloading Pro or Enterprise ISO and running setup.exe from within Windows.

 

Try it on a test computer, or just wipe them all out and start again

I did not know this! If it works like an upgrade then you may have just saved me a few hours looking for bits of 'unique' software we have installed on a few machines still running LTSC.
