nicholab Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 My wife’s got moving fever. She taken against the cloths rail in the hall as that messy so I have to go up stairs to get any coat. She making all these daft decisions to try and make our home some kind of show home that not nice to live in but apparently everyone wants to buy. It not even on the market yet and no estate agent is booked to come and take photos. Coats might not be a big thing but living in the country with dogs you tend to have more than one coat depending what your doing. How do I cope with this for six month plus?
6Foot2 Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 When we were moving, the list of jobs I had to do was added to daily. What stands out to me now is sanding down the stairs, the banister, and risers, taking apart (and packing for moving) the bookcases and wardrobes, and taking apart the TV and over TV unit. That last bit was particularly frustrating because I hadn't worked my way around to working on the TV/over TV unit when a viewing had been booked. About a week after the viewing, the couple who viewed made an offer, and they said they would like us to leave the TV unit, but not the over TV unit. It all works out I guess, as we have repurposed the tall sections that stood either side of the TV unit, and they now lie on their sides compared with how they used to stand. Re: How to cope with it: It may not work for you, but I found it helpful to keep busy, keep doing the jobs as required. Hope it goes well.
mavhc Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Always confused me, I want to see how much stuff you can fit into a house, that's half of what it's for after all
jthompson Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 There's a balance, isn't there. You want the house to present as being practical and not a "but where would we hang our coats?" situation, yet not cluttered. Flick through any house&home type magazines and you'll see Barbour jackets and Hunter wellies placed in hallways just so. RE: coping strategy. Trust that any annoyance caused is not intended. The warmer weather is coming and therefore the need to go upstairs for coats will lessen.

Yes but I not programmed the same way as the wife to look for extra jobs after coming in from work and taking our son 3 nights a week. I also want to get out on my motorbike after under taking the expensive training and passing the test. Sometimes it feels like you would get more rest at Downtown Abbey!
