BioStore ID Manager suddenly stopped working on Client machines

We have IDManager along with the UareU finger print readers and IDManager has been running fine up until this week where our finance team have said that "an administrator has blocked you from running this app" which we were a bit confused at as nothing has been changed, no group policies were changed, no windows updates approved - nothing.

To get IDManager running correctly with the "Run this program as an Administrator" box ticked to get the UareU fingerprint reader to work but now it seems that with this tick box enabled and our UAC settings as they are, IDManager no longer wants to run, it will work fine with the "run this program an an administrator" box unticked but the UareU fingerprint reader does not work.

I've created a SHIM for IDManager which allows IDManager to run with "run with program as an administrator" however it appears not to load the UareU drivers or settings as ID Manager reports the fingerprint scanner is missing with "no scanner found".

Has anyone else come across this issue?

Just incase anyone else needs this - after a lot of trial and error and a very late night i came up with the following:

One of the following options will work:

Option 1 – create a Schedule Task for a run on demand with Run with Highest Privileges then create a shortcut with the run command of schtasks /run /tn “NameOfTask”.

Action - "C:\Program Files (x86)\BioStore Solutions\BioStore Express\IDManager\IDManager.exe".

Option 2 – create a SHIM using Windows KITs (32bit) using IDManager.exe.

Compatibility modes:

- RunAsAdmin

- RunAsHighest

- RunAsInvoker

To install the SHIM, run CMD as administrator and run sdbinst “NameOfShim.sdb”

Option 3 – Create a shortcut to IDManager with this string, do not put it in the same folder / location as the main .exe file.

C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /min /C "set __COMPAT_LAYER=RunAsInvoker && start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\BioStore Solutions\BioStore Express\IDManager\IDmanager.exe"

Hi,

I’m Adam, Product Owner for IRIS BioStore.

If you could PM with the name of your site, version of IDManager, Windows Version etc I’d be happy to have a look into this to see if this has been reported by anyone else and see if there is anything we can do/suggest.

@Fez thank you for offering support with your product. Please supply an official business contact so people can be confident that you are who you say you are and that that is where their data is going. This kind of information should not be passed through EduGeek DMs
