How do I make a file recorded from a cam corder viewable through a DVD player on a TV

We have been trying to make files recorded stored on our system from a Sony (HD) Camcorder viewable from a DVD player thhrough a TV. Files burnt from either Roxio or Nero play OK through the PC but refuse to view on the DVD player TV combination. Is it a disk problem, tried to CD and both DVD-R and DVD-RW?

Some DVD players [ early domestic ones ] won't play DVD+R's, DVD-R's, CDRs etc.

Check with the manufactor of the TV/DVD player.

If it's a real problem you can purchase DVD players which will play most formats including DivX, Xvid & MPEG4 for around £40 to £50 from scan.co.uk

Philips DVD players will only play DVD+R. Also what file extension is the film file on the camcorder? Is it an AVI or WMV or something like that? If so, you will not be able to play this on most common DVD players, but this will play fine on a PC.

 

Last time I converted an AVI to DVD format (basically VOB files), I used DVD Flick, which is free I believe. Works a treat, you can then burn the files using DVD-Video mode in nero to DVD!
