In a similar vein wearable computer's which were huge fallout 4 pip boy style things have now become small smartwatches.

But yes, as years go on, IT tech gets bigger - example, my waist has certainly increased in size

Yep, with POE++ being able to power most power hungry devices they need to space for the electrical bits and cooling.
