GizmoIT Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Greetings Hive Mind, We have a couple of PC's (HP EliteDesk 800 G2's) that have developed an issue where they are not detecting their hard drives from a cold boot. If we power on the PC and do a HDD diagnostic check and the re-boot it loads up fine, and any subsequent reboots after this also work without issue. Only when the PC is powered off will the issue arise again. We have tried another drive, resetting the BIOS to defaults, changing the battery, changing boot sequence, POST delay etc to no avail. Any other suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

bald_pig Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Is the drive dieing, and the couple of extra seconds in the menu is what it needs for the drive to power up and be detected?
FN-GM Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Have you tried a BIOS update? There have been a few threads on here that see strange drive behaviour with newer versions on Windows 10. BIOS updates fixed a number [emoji846] 1
mavhc Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 The way Windows now shuts down has changed, and this has confused my 2019 HP 8200s into sometimes taking many minutes to even turn on, along with running fans at full speed for a minute. Installing Win11 on one has caused it to fail to boot the hdd sometimes too
