Smoothwall Safeguarding report what do the Caution, Danger Advisory mean

Stupid question but trying to work out if this means it was blocked and they attempted access or they visited the site successfully

and also what Breach means in Smoothwall terms as it seems to apply to attempts and successful attempts?

Almost certainly blocked (as this means the Smoothie picked up the category) - if you have your policy to block porn, for example, then any porn alerts will also be blocked.

The only deviation from this is in one edge case, there are some self harm URLs that go to sites which are positive/helpful. We don't block those, but we do alert.

so is the Safeguarding report a fixed template that (apart from exceptions) is going to show blocked content only? I'm only concerned that I might be missing something as Safeguarding Team were under the impression it was a successful visit.

The trigger for the safeguarding alert is the categorisation, not the blocked or allowed status.

 

You would get the same safeguarding alerts regardless of block status. Safeguarding does not care if the access was blocked or not.
