Liamini Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Hi everyone, currently got a DFE tablet provided from a school a few years back but the UEFI is locked down. Just wondering if anyone as any clue what the UEFI password could be
6Foot2 Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Forgive me for my scepticism, but this is a bit of a suspect question on your first post. You didn't even say hello in the "New Users" thread.
3s-gtech Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 Ask the supplying school. If they’re anything like us, they’d appreciate having it back thankyouverymuch.
Liamini Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 Thanks for replying, I have emailed the school but they seem not to have it anymore and plus this was given to us in 2020. They are looking into it but they can't guarantee anything. Also don't assume it stolen when someone is just asking for help as I only thought to give it a shot on this forum. I wasn't given no keys or anything and plus they don't want it back as it was given to our daughter which isn't in use anymore. Sorry if I came out abit rude.
6Foot2 Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 If you spend more time on the forum (I hope you do) you will find that we are friendly, and (generally) helpful. On those occasions where we may appear less helpful, it will probably be due to a sprinkling of caution where the information sought could be put to use in ways other than was originally claimed.
3s-gtech Posted December 20, 2022 Posted December 20, 2022 It’s a perfectly legitimate question, but we also have to be cautious as a lot of devices went ‘missing’ during COVID. With many of these UEFI devices, if you don’t have the password or a manufacturer tool (usually software) to remove or bypass them, they’re a brick.
Liamini Posted December 20, 2022 Author Posted December 20, 2022 I understand your concern and I can see where you coming from. I will wait and see if the school find the UEFI password as this is the only option. The device is still usable just wanted to install windows 11 on to it but it locked down due to safety reason. Thanks anyway and sorry for the hassle.

FN-GM Posted December 21, 2022 Posted December 21, 2022 Guessing it won’t in-place upgrade? Even if it could, it's not a good idea to do this without a plan B.
