Should android apps on Chromebook auto update?

Hi all. Had a few teachers saying that the apps installed onto the pupils Chromebooks are on old versions.

 

The apps are from the android play store. Am I meant to manually update the apps or should this be automatic?

Should be automatic. However, I've seen issues with updates on older devices. Assuming they are on the latest version of ChromeOS they should update.

The use can just open up the Playstore app and manually update the app as.
