newpersn Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 Hello. Got a odd one here. Some laptops have got a issue with Edge/Chrome and outputting sound. I have tested the speakers on the laptop, and they work but no sound though Edge and Chrome (Might be more programs but only tested these 2) I can see the volume mixer for it moving in the taskbar for the browser but not the speakers one. Has anyone seen this before? I've reinstalled sound drives, BIOS update, Reinstalled Edge but still nothing.
hallb15 Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 If the bar is moving on the volume mixer, it may be outputting to a different sound device. Typically laptops have a sound device associated with the HDMI output, probably called something like 'HD Audio output'. The laptop speaker output device is normally called something with the word speakers in it. Anyway have a play around and see what sound devices you can output to. Have the laptops ever been connected to a bluetooth device? If so you could also try turning off bluetooth to rule that out.
Cache Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Try disabling Audio Enhancements on the output, I can't remember if it's that or not granting exclusive access which fixed it for me: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/disable-audio-enhancements-0ec686c4-8d79-4588-b7e7-9287dd296f72

Thank you
