SIMS 'Next Generation'

So I opened up Solus to a patch 27683? What is this for? I wondered. So off I went to have a look and ended up here on an article called 'Preparing for SIMS Next Generation: Installing and Configuring SIMS Services Manager and SIMS Data Exchange'

 

I'm assuming prep for moving to a cloud based SIMS? Does anybody know anymore info?

 

It does mention logging into SIMS ID, I'm assuming hosted SIMS platform

Here is a link to their progress so far and their plan going forward. Some of our schools are already using "Next Gen" take registers and the pupil's contacts slice too. The take registers slice writes back to the SIMS 7 database as well.
