RDS server spec overkill?

Hi,

Taken on a new role at a school and been going over the VMs, does this seem a tad overkill to you?

We have around 250 staff, but I don't think many really use it anymore with everything going more to the cloud/online.

Any really answer that until you know how many do use it, and how many at a time.

 

Also, what do they do use it for?

That’s a beasty setup, but you’ll need to analyse peak usage and look at system utilisation. With half that number of staff, I had 24GB and 12 cores. Reduced that now as staff have laptops and a VPN.
