Intune and policys and licences

Hi all hoping for some advice around M$ licences.

I currently have some staff on A1 and some on A3 it has worked well but now i'm considering moving toward intune for my policys and settings and moving away from GPOS, my understanding is that each user that logs in and wants to benefit from policys handed down by intune must have A3 is this correct?

 

if it is am i correct that my casual users currently on A1 (they only logon every now and again) whill need A3 licences so as to get the intune policys or is there another way to achieve this?

You can buy Intune as a separate product, that may be cheaper than going full A3

 

I would go full A3 though to get all the benefits

ok i think its clear now In order to be able to log onto windows pcs and recieve policys from intune they need A1 plus a p1 licence for azure and an intune licence or just a straight A3?

If you have A3 licences then that has InTune included, and has a 40:1 student-use benefit. So, for every A3 Faculty licence bought, you get 40 free student licences.

 

So, depending on how many A3 licences you have you need to ensure all the other users have an InTune licence.

 

The most cost-effective way I can see for this is to have a mixed estate of full A3 and Enterprise & Mobility A3 (a 1:15 student use benefit).

 

Specific InTune licences must be purchased per user, and they don't have a student use benefit ratio.
