Hardware booking

Hi, I am looking for a solution to monitor bookable hardware. My library team have a selection of bookable devices (cameras, voice recorders, ipads etc). Would like a calendar where we can look at a date and clearly see what is booked and what might be available.

 

Currently my thoughts are an Outlook calendar which contains the bookings, but that doesnt really help with the whats available, just whats out. Any ideas?

 

We use SnipeIT for our IT Assets, but the check in \ check out feature, whilst good, doesnt really help with the overview side of things. I want to be able to easily see that yes, we have this available or not.

Microsoft 365 let’s you setup room and equipment mailboxes which would be more suitable than a standard shared calendar: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/admin/manage/room-and-equipment-mailboxes.

 

Snipe IT isn’t really designed for short term bookings for equipment like this.

 

You may be better off with a 3rd party system that’s specifically designed for this kind of thing. Especially if you have lots of equipment.

We use the above for booking laptops from laptop banks and PAT tester, mini buses, and some other things. For example, we have a laptop bank which has 20 laptops and a teacher/staff member (365 SSO/LDAP/ other) can book them all, or book a number of them, leaving what can be booked by others. Works really well, but only use it because we use it for room bookings.... which is thoroughly amazing by the way! Would certainly do what you want, but would be too expensive just for our library but you might be richer than us
