Parent complaint - names comes up on Google Search

Hi

 

I have a strange one.

 

A Parent filed a complaint with her school in that when they type their name in, one of the links come up with a particular page for the school (in which their child goes)

 

I check the page in question and there is no reference of that name.

 

They are very concerned ref privacy. I will talk to their website host but is there any external cause for this also?

If you can replicate the result, click the 3 vertical dots by the search result, has more info. If you can't they may have personalised results on

The complaint seems vague, inexact.

 

Is the complaint that the search includes only the child's name, and that results in a link to the school page? Or is there more to the search? Does the search include the child's full name, or only their forename/middle name(s)/surname?

 

Given more data perhaps you might be able to reproduce the result the parent is seeing and then provide an explanation.

I had a chat with the office.

 

and tried the search.

 

So when I type parents Full name' into Google, there is a link to school webpage, that contains no entries for that parents name.

it's explicit name that makes that school page pop up, trying just surname or a variation of spelling it does not appear

 

I'm hoping the school office will be able to call parent soon for more details...

Interesting, one page it was indexing to is a Facebook group which I suspect has the parent's name as an active member? visiting the group it also links another page to the school website itself (although a different one)
