Retr0 Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 Hello Any help will be greatly appreciated, the admin department are breathing down my neck about this. We have set up a scan to email on a canon printer using an office 365 SMTP server, when the scanned document is sent; the printer says authentication error. When i test the SMTP connection in the canon admin console i get this: SMTP authentication (SMTP AUTH) error. Check that [user Name], [Password], and the other settings for [sMTP Authentication (SMTP AUTH)] in Authentication/Encryption Settings are correct. Please help Thank you
georgeescott Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 If it’s not an obvious config setting in the printer web interface like TLS or the port, I’d first check to make sure the credentials work on the same VLAN the printer is on. You can do this through PowerShell http:// https://connectioncloudsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061978013-Test-the-Office365-SMTP-Relay-Service-from-PowerShell. If they do, can you post a screenshot of the SMTP section?
davipton Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 We have Canon photocopiers and have the scan to email function working via O365. I'll have to check the config and let you know.
Roberto Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 I’m guessing the printer is using basic authentication and that isn’t enabled on your tenant. What do the logs of the user you’re attempting to sign in with say in azure ad?
georgeescott Posted September 10, 2022 Posted September 10, 2022 Looks like OP posted this twice. Was resolved in https://www.edugeek.net/showthread.php?t=229288.
