Warwick_Tech Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Hi All, Fun with Teams - as everyone has moved up a year we re-created all our new classes, easy - I even had a nice guide to copy any assignments to a new team to save time https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/repost-an-assignment-in-microsoft-teams-f1c81ec0-ac61-49e5-b551-8d6a792f0d7b Oh but there's an issue - See it doesn't give the option to copy across the work too; so users continuing projects from last year have to use the archived team, not the new team What's best practice in this situation? I even thought moving the files via sharepoint was an acceptable answer, but this gives all students access to others work which is cheating! One of these days I will retire.
supportman Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 We just create teams manually and name them with a year such as 2021-2024 for work that goes over multiple years. Found it much easier than using auto rollovers or whatever. We allow the teachers to make these teams but give them guidance and naming structure. 1
Jawloms Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 We rename any teams which are going to be used the following year. Powershell scripts are wonderful!

supportman Posted September 6, 2022 Posted September 6, 2022 Do you then manually add students to the classes? No we use class distribution lists that sync from Bromcom/Salamander. Teacher just has to type in the class list name to add all students. 1

supportman Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Do these still sync through the year is is it manual add/remove? They don't sync after the first import, but teachers are aware of how to add or remove members. We've not had any issue with this system so far. Certinaly worked a lot better than the auto SDS sync.
KK20 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 look at dynamic membership group that has a team attached. this is a pain if you have MANY teams to set up https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/dynamic-memberships It does mean that owners cant add members manually though. I use this for our clubs teams such as DofE, that way the teams update themselves without much interaction from me.
