RLR Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 We're currently moving from SIMS to iSAMS. One thing we've come across is our 3rd party integrators like Salamander and Vericool are querying the large amounts of staff we have that they can see. From what I understand, all staff from SIMS have been moved to iSAMS which includes contractors, peripatetic music staff, volunteers etc. These users are needed to be added as staff so that the data in the Single Central Register is as up to date as possible but got me wondering if there is another way we're meant to add these types of userse in iSAMS?
TechMonkey Posted August 24, 2022 Posted August 24, 2022 You can set a Role and then get Salamander to ignore them. I think we had a Contractor role set for this very reason. Not sure about VeriCool
RLR Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 Yep, we're going to use a user defined field. I Just wanted to check we had added/imported staff correctly as it seemed odd that a few integrators queried this.

If you fancy sharing war stories at any point I'm up for a cuppa and teams chat

If you fancy sharing war stories at any point I'm up for a cuppa and teams chat Possibly. We have a dedicated MIS team so I'm massively involved in this migration. I'm mainly getting involved where there is a cross-over of data and IT systems. It seems like every integrator (salamander, inventry, vericool) have all queried the number of staff is far larger than what we had in SIMS. Salamander are able to filter the staff based on a user defined field but Inventry and Vericool don't have anything to filter contractors/volunteers out of our staff records. I'm sure our data manager will have a fair few stories to share as he's been dealing with a lot of the data migration. 1

Nothing much to really report just nice to chat to people going through the same currently.

With no visibility into what you're doing they may be wary of sudden, massive delta changes and I think calling that out is better than finding that you've put every student into the wrong OU and now have all of them registered to teach one another.
titch Posted August 28, 2022 Posted August 28, 2022 One thing I've just been pulled up on if you use My school portal and worth checking as I'm sure you are doing the exact same things as us. MSP is allowing the viewing of records of contacts marked as "family and friends" in isams. I need to get MSP to turn that off asap!
