RSAT Tools not installing on 21H2

Hi all,

Got a strange issue luckily only affecting admins but is a massive inconvenience for us as we prefer using RSAT Tools on our desktop instead of having to remote into the server each time.

Basically we launch the installer and click install and very quickly it will say Install Complete but nothing has been installed.

Anyone experienced this before?

Quick and easy way of doing it. PowerShell script.

Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" -Name "UseWUServer" -Value 0
Restart-Service "Windows Update" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
#Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V-Tools-All -All -norestart
#Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Microsoft-Hyper-V-Management-Clients -all -norestart
Write-Host "Adding Components…" -ForegroundColor Green
Get-WindowsCapability -Name "RSAT.*" -Online | Select-Object name | ForEach-Object {Add-WindowsCapability -Name $_.Name -Online}
Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU" -Name "UseWUServer" -Value 1
Restart-Service "Windows Update" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue

Worked like a charm

Awesome. You might want to comment out the Hyper-V stuff if you use it.

When I ran it I didn’t remove it but will remove it next time :)

Thanks!
