donkeymusic Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Morning, I have heard that Google will be soon charging for drive storage and just wondered if anyone else had heard this or knew what the charges would be? Thanks
jthompson Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 For Workspace for Education, drive storage is no longer unlimited. The free quota is still 100TB for your entire organistion, though, so I doubt many schools will need to start paying just for extra storage. https://support.google.com/a/answer/10431555?hl=en&ref_topic=10431464&fl=1 1
paulkerton Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 They're not charging for storage. Education gets 100TB per tenancy, and you get 100GB extra added to the share pool per Teaching and Learing Upgrade, or 20GB each for each Education Plus License. Even without purchasing a single license, for 3000 users you'd get 33GB each. In my current role in a small MAT of 1700, we only have about 15 users who use more than 25GB and not one of those is a student. Most students use no more than 3GB. You can assign limits per user too. I'd also do a quick audit and see how many ripped Hollywood films teachers have stored for "education purposes!" 1
jthompson Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I'd also do a quick audit and see how many ripped Hollywood films teachers have stored for "education purposes!" Everyone knows that it's Google who will be summarily deleting those when they find them
