Are you trying to install it by hand? If so, emerge it instead -- it's in app-emulation. That one should have all the defaults set up right.
RabbieBurns Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 yeh, Ive got a newer version than is in portage. But I guess thatll need to do, much simpler, thanks. Although, !! app-emulation/vmware-workstation-5.5.6.80404 has fetch restriction turned on. !!! This probably means that this ebuild's files must be downloaded !!! manually. See the comments in the ebuild for more information. !!! dberkholz Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 The ebuild tree has 6.x available, they're just keyworded ~arch. They also have a more intelligible message to tell you to download the vmware tarball yourself, which is what that is saying.
RabbieBurns Posted June 29, 2008 Author Posted June 29, 2008 Geoff, I have no idea. dberkholz, I how do I find the 6.x versions?
powdarrmonkey Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 AFAIK gentoo uses System V (/etc/init.d) but the levels are named, not numbered. You'll have to create the appropriate symlinks for BSD (rc.x) directories, or the emerge installer will do this for you.
RabbieBurns Posted July 5, 2008 Author Posted July 5, 2008 What I had to do was copy the tarball to the distfiles location, and add it /etc/portage/package.keywords then there were a few dependencies that needed unmasked. Think that should be it.
