Enable SMB on AD/DC Win Server2003

Hi all, Hope you are all well.

 

I want to communicate form my Mac to My Domain Controller. But it times out every time. I have been told this is due to SMB not being enable on the DC.

 

Does anyone know how I would enable SMB on a DC/Win Server 2003?

Is it in GPO?

Is it in the registry?

 

I have not had an issue connecting to other servers Just the ones with the role of DC??

I was under the impression SMB is enabled by default on 2003 Server, but it sends information encrypted by default. Some devices such as photocopiers use SMB, but send the information unencrypted so it doesn't work.

 

To disable encryption, navigate to the Default Domain Policy > Computer Config > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options

 

Microsoft network client: Send unencrypted password to third-party SMB server - Enable

 

Microsoft network server: Digitally sign communications (always) - Disabled

 

You'll need to run a gpupdate /force command and reboot your servers for changes to take effect.
