MkII Posted March 13, 2006 Posted March 13, 2006 Just had this email from a colleague: I don't know if any of you have come across this? http://dotlrn.org/ This appears to be a hugely comprehensive managed learning environment application. Open Source of course! Have a look at the product summary page to get a feel for what it can do http://dotlrn.org/product/ Also there are some good Flash demos of many of the applications at http://www.dotlrn.org/demos-dotlrn/ There is an internationalisation package for UK English, but not Cymraeg so far. Looks a long way ahead of Moodle to me. In terms of technology, this is a bit out of the mainstream. It is based on open sourced AOL technology which provides a comprehensive, standardised application runtime and development platform. See http://openacs.org/
MkII Posted March 13, 2006 Author Posted March 13, 2006 Apparently .LRN requires quite a different web server setup and needs an Oracle or Postgres database - both more complex database systems to setup and manage than MySQL. I just want to know why I haven't seen this recomended.
