enjay Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 We've just migrated SIMS server, due to some serious issues on the previous one. I want to disable access to the old SIMS so people don't go in to the wrong one, but due to the issues with the server I'm reluctant to turn it off in case I can't get it back on again should I need it. So, my question is how can I prevent people accessing the server and/or SIMS?
DBazeley95 Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 (edited) Could you remove the virtual switch from the network adapter and leave it as Not connected? Edited April 20, 2022 by DBazeley95

If it’s just SIMs on it you could just stop the SQL service and disable it so it won’t restart That way you can still access the server if needed even without SIMs being active Although that is assuming nothing else is running from it still Steve 1

howartp Posted April 20, 2022 Posted April 20, 2022 https://knowledgebase.apexsql.com/configure-remote-access-connect-remote-sql-server-instance-apexsql-tools/ The reverse of that should restrict access to local, so you can still get into SIMS on that server, but not from anyone else.
