TwistedHelixis Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 (edited) I have just had one user say that when they try to open Gmail on their iPad, it says they need to update the app. There is an update button but it's greyed out. I haven't ever had an issue like this on them before and it is just one user (so far). Is there a way to push out app updates from Mosyle? Or should the apps auto update and this is just a glitch? Thanks EDIT - I have just found an 'update all apps' button in Mosyle, in the devices section. Not sure if this will fix the issue but have pressed it. Edited March 30, 2022 by TwistedHelixis
tmoon-mint Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Mine just seem to update by themselves, however I found a quick way to force it is to open your app install profile but dont make any changes and hit save. This seems to reapply it which will also update any that are out of date. 1
TwistedHelixis Posted March 30, 2022 Author Posted March 30, 2022 force it is to open your app install profile Sorry, but can you explain what this is / means.
tmoon-mint Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Sorry I didnt explain it very well. From the dashboard go to Management > Install app. Click on the profile that is deploying the app you want to update and you should see a menu appear on the right. Dont make any changes and just scroll down to the bottom and click save. This should force any apps in that profile to reinstall / update. 1
Brimstone Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Auto updating apps will be, in most MDM's a specific feature. For example Jamf School has the ability to schedule app updates where Jamf School will ask the iPad to check into the App Store, if the app is not up to date then it will download and push the update automatically. Bear in mind the iPad has to be online with enough battery power and space and the app has to be a managed app for this to work 1
atcoates Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Yes, Meraki Dashboard it's a tick next to the specific app to allow it to auto-update so I'm sure Moysle must have that feature. Google says https://manager.mosyle.com/solutions/ios/appinstall 1
