Shared Folder Trusted Domain Authentication Popup

We are at MAT with two way forest trusts enabled between all the domains.

For one domain, when we set security settings on a folder share, and we select the domain from the 'location' button which lists all the trusted domain, some of them I can select the domain enter username, click check and it will find the name, or popup with suggestions.

 

However, for one of the domains, when i click 'check name' it pops up and wants to authenticate to the domain before it shows me the available matching users.

 

Anyone know why this would occur for just one of the trusted 2 day forest domains?

I recall a config called 'list object mode' that would achieve that (if that's what you wanted to achieve). In short, permissions. What do OU perms look like on 'bad' domain compared to 'good' domain

 

Over-and-above that I wonder if all appropriate UPN suffixes are routed through the trust?

I will check. Which should be the default? when select another domain should it be prompting for authentication or now when clicking check name?

Dont know the default settings off top of my head, but suggest the domain that 'works' probably is closer to it. I would also troubleshoot with AD Users and Computers rather than file and permissions, hopefully removing a layer of complexity. From a nonprivileged user you'd normally expect to be able to connect to any trusted domain and browse it. I'm guessing that the 'bad' domain cannot be browsed in the same was as you cannot browse it.
