maxrebo Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Our Server updates installed last night (I set them to install after a certain period) - They seem to have taken an age to update and reboot? Was this normal? They install at 03.00 and usually are done by 4ish - This month the Servers were rebooting at 7ish! - Got me worried that there was an issue with one of the updates! Seem to have settled down now.
FragglePete Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I ran the 2022-03 Update on a number of servers last week - and yes, it did seem to take very long time to update with the spinning wheel saying 'preparing updates'. Seemed worse on the 2016 servers than anything else. Don't panic. Make a cup of tea, go for a walk, etc - watch kettle never boils and all that! Pete 1
tmoon-mint Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 To be honest I have always found that Server 2016 in particular takes an absolute age to install updates. Server 2019 and newer seem to be much better. 1

MartinT Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 I agree, the March updates took an age on our servers, most of which are 2019.
mavhc Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 The magic Windows 10 feature updates that only take 2 mins appear to be: previous month: actually install but don't enable the new stuff, take ages. Actual month: enable the new stuff in 2 mins Not sure if that applies to Server too, probably as they're the same thing. If there's a 22h1 release next month, that'll be why

If there's a 22h1 release next month, that'll be why Windows 10 has moved to a annual release schedule so there wont be a 22H1.
