Guest Guest Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 Hi Guys and Gals, I’m a first time SCCM/Microsoft Endpoint Manager (not intune) admin and I’m struggling to get applications I have created to deploy and show in software centre. Any ideas???
Steve21 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 You'll have to give us a bit more info than that... Are they not showing at all? Or are they showing but not installing? Have you deployed them to a collection, or aren't you even at that stage yet? etc etc If you can let us know what you've done so far, and what the actual error/issue you're seeing we can try to narrow it down a bit Steve

I had created a device collection called Admin with 1 or 2 machines in there and I’ve created an application called Google Chrome Enterprise but it doesn’t deploy or show up in software centre on client PC’s. I’m a first timer of using SCCM so any advice would be great!
Steve21 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 So you created the collection, and the application, have you actually set the application to deploy to the collection? (If you right-click on the application there's an option to deploy it, and then either make it required or available). You'd then pick said collection for that application, and chose when you want it deployed etc Also, have you distributed the package/source to a distribution point? (Is it showing a Green circle, or grey/yellow etc) If you have already done that, have you forced the machines to scan locally for the update? (If you don't force them instantly they refresh on a timer by your default settings which can be hours, unless you've modified that, but easiest just to force while testing it) Steve

Steve21 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 That error just means it couldn't download the software for some reason. In the SCCM console (server) go to the application, and look at the bottom/right for content status. What colour is the circle? If it's not Green it means you didn't distribute the package to a DP yet which would be why the client couldn't get it. Steve
Norphy Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 A quick Google suggests that the DP that you distributed the software to is not in the same boundary group as your clients. You need to check those over.

I’m only testing with 2 pc’s at the moment.
Steve21 Posted February 27, 2022 Posted February 27, 2022 You need some boundary setup, even if it's just one to cover your entire AD site (or IP range), but you'd normally have already set that up at the point you're at, as you needed to add the DP to it when configuring it, or didn't you do any of that bit? Also I assume you've opened all the firewall ports for the clients? As there's a number of ports required for DPs Steve
Fazza Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I haven’t yet setup boundary groups. As far as I am aware, boundary groups are used to let SCCM know what computers it can deploy to, if you have no boundaries then as far as SCCM is concerned there are 0 computers it can deploy to.
Guest Guest Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 Oh so that will be why nothing will download. What’s the best option for boundary groups, Site Name or IP?
Boredguy Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 It depends on your site setup. We just set our boundary groups up as an IP range since we only have the 1 site currently.
FN-GM Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Oh so that will be why nothing will download. What’s the best option for boundary groups, Site Name or IP? We use IP addresses. In the past we had used AD sites but changes to that meant changing SCCM. From experience IP ranges change less frequently.
Guest Guest Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 We use IP addresses. In the past we had used AD sites but changes to that meant changing SCCM. From experience IP ranges change less frequently. I think I’ll try out using IP addresses instead of AD Sites. I hopefully can get it working and setup tomorrow
