noelmm Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 Hi everyone, We currently use Photoshop CS6 and never had a problem until now. All of a sudden, we now have a teacher report issues when students are trying to open photoshop files stating a low storage error. I‘ve checked the machines and there is more than enough space available on the local drive and the memory is sitting around 30-40% utilisation. Event viewer isn’t showing any errors to speak of so not sure what’s happening. We use OneDrive so I thought that in conjunction with Google Chrome is that causing an issue where the browser cache if filling up however the files shouldn’t be large enough to do that (the files are around 30-40mb). If the student receives the error (not all users will) they will restart the device and be fine for a while and then it may come back. It doesn’t matter what student uses what machine, it appears to happen randomly (user A can be logged into PC A and see the problem one week but not the next week). I’ve attempted to use Senso to see what the machine is doing in terms of resources etc but Senso takes that long to connect the student has already restarted the machine. I’ve asked the teacher that next time this happens (they will be using the software towards the end of the week) to ask the student to see if they can download the file to a usb stick and open it from there before rebooting the machine. I’ve also provided the teacher with the instructions on how the students can clear their scratch file etc. but I’ve been told that didn’t help. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look at next? Also what software (free) are you using to monitor resources etc for a remote machine? I’ve used the computer management option and connected to a remote machine but I’ve always found that to be slow. Thanks Noel
AJWhite1970 Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I 'think' (but haven't 100% proved it yet) that it's the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp that hits a limit for Photoshop rather than physical hard drive space. For our users cleaning that one out fixes most Photoshop CS6 ills.... YMMV Andrew 1

I may need to run a profile delete script at logoff, the only problem is that would increase login time for the students.
AJWhite1970 Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 You don't need to purge the whole profile on logout - just that temp folder
slugshead Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 For CS6, I actually had weekly scripts that ran to clear users appdata/adobe folders. Not had any such issue since migrating to CC 1
