GhostsInTheDark Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Hi I am getting this error during the deployment process of Windows 10 on a Lenovo M70s. "WDSclient: an error occured while trying to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server. Please check to ensure that there is an operational DHCP server on this network segment" The same image works fine on our old Lenovo M900s. I've read online that adding the correct NIC drivers to the image could work. But the ones on the Lenovo website don't contain .INF files so they're not picked up when selecting 'Add driver package' and browsing for it. Does anyone have any experience with this please?
Oaktech Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 You need to extract the inf files from the package on the lenovo website. you can either do this by installing the drivers somewhere and going looking for the install files, or you may be able to open the exe file in 7zip and read the contents out depending on how the package is made by lenovo.
GhostsInTheDark Posted February 11, 2022 Author Posted February 11, 2022 I've had a look at this. There are no inf files in the driver package.
Koldov Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Are these all .exe. files or as in HP drivers SPXXXXX files that extract before they install? If so, run the .exe on a test machine and see if it extracts the .inf somewhere, copy that out and then cancel the install (it probably won't fully install anywhere if you don't have the hardware in the test machine anyway) Is it possible to find out the manufacturer of the chipset and see if you can find drivers that way instead of 'Lenovo' branded/packaged ones (they sometimes rewrite original manufacturer drivers, but more often don't).
