Enco Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Hi all, I'm looking to invest a bit into our schools MDM, currently using Meraki but i personally don't get on well with it. I was wondering what you guys are using. With COVID happening we've had a massive jump in how many mobile devices we have now due to the government giving them out for free during the pandemic and so now we have IOS, Android, Chromebook and Windows devices. I'm wanting something that will be able to manage all device types if possible and to also have the functionality to push apps out to devices. Is there anything out there? Many thanks
CHiLL Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 We've been using Intune for a few years now. It's far from perfect (and not the best to navigate around), but it does the basics well enough. The license was also relatively cheap to add to our OVS-ES agreement. 1
EssentialRug Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Also looking at switching from Meraki to using Endpoint Manager for our iPad MDM. If anyone has made a similar switch and can recommend that would be great! 1
Enco Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 I've looked at Jamfschool before but it only seems to manage iOS and MacOS devices, im hoping for an half decent all-rounder if possible. Cheers
paulkerton Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 For Chromebooks I wouldn't stray far away from the Google Admin Console, it can handle most other OS's and their management too. https://workspace.google.com/intl/en_uk/products/admin/endpoint/ 1

Hi @CHiLL We're wanting to look into using auto pilot and intune and we too have an OVS licenses (3 year till end of 2023) Whats the license we need to add to enable intune and could we just add a handful to trial it ? We do have some Azure P1 and Office 365 A3 but under https://endpoint.microsoft.com/ Tenant admin | Tenant status it says "No Permission"

We do have some Azure P1 and Office 365 A3 but under https://endpoint.microsoft.com/ Tenant admin | Tenant status it says "No Permission" The license appears as "Intune" in my account's assigned licenses. We puchased the following: IntuneAddOnOpenFclty ShrdSvr ALNG SubsVL OLV E 1Mth Acdmc AP AddOn - We pay £4.80 per license - Only purchase as many as your FTE/KW count is (or whatever that metric is these days). We pay £4.80 per license. IntuneOpen ShrdSvrALNG SubsVL OLV NL 1MthAcdmcStdntSTUUseBnftRenewalOnly - £0.00 per license - These are the usable licenses that come with the above license pack and are assigned to users/devices to allow you to manage them in the MDM, so specify more than you actually need. We have 1000, despite having ~400 managed devices. 1

How well does it work for Android tablets?
CHiLL Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 How well does it work for Android tablets?Sadly I can't comment on that. We primarily use Intune for our iOS devices and DfE Windows laptops. If I had to hazard a guess, based on it's iOS and Windows performance, it's at least adequate.
Mr.Ben Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 How well does it work for Android tablets?Great for Samsung Knox based devices, good for stock Android and awful for anything else. 1
