MyDejaVu Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 has anyone installed the printer HP LaserJet 2600n on a Windows Server 2008? because each time I try , it brings an error and the printer spooler stops so have to restart spooler. I tried the general XP driver, the 2003 driver and also the vista driver, same result.
SimpleSi Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Don't know if it applies to Win2008 but did you follow the guide on the wiki? regards Simon
ilycool Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 hi mate, go to the printer on the server click on properties then the ports tab and UNCHECK where it says enable bidirectional printing, because the printer has it enabled on itself (hardwarewise) and server 2008 also has it enabled it basically stops printing after the first print. let me know how it goes 1
ZeroHour Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I had this problem with a p2005n where the driver would not install. I just used the generic HP driver and it worked then. Interesting about the bi-directional setting though.
ilycool Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 yes id try the generic driver first but some printers are a pain to install on networks and the only way to do it is manually to add them as local printers and then change the port/ip settings but when you do it that way then it auto ticks the bidirectional part and thats where the problem most likely lies
