hobbit Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 hi people, new to apple mac's and have a fauly hard drive... could someone tell me how easy it is to replace a hard drive in a macbook and reintsall it with lepoard via the "upgrade" disks that came the the macbook (came with tiger and set of upgrade disks straight from apple store just as new operating system came out!) cheers Ian
gaz350 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 really easy. remove battery and there is metal plate on the inside 2 edges shaped like a "L" covering the RAM on the long edge and the HDD on the short edge. unscrew the 3 screws, remove plate, and slide out harddrive via the plastic tag. to instal new hardrive take the mounts off the old harddrive and slide it the HDD back in. (be careful and make sure you stick a tag or something similar that you can easily use to pull the drive back out). reinsert and screw the L shaped cover back in, replace battery. Turn Macbook on. Insert Tiger Discs, Hold C to start up from DVD. Once the installer has finished and your at the tiger desktop insert Leopard upgrade disc. Reboot and hold C to boot from the Leopard Disc and follow the installation process. and wait
