Does anyone use a Xerox Phaser 6510 Printer as we are looking at fitting one in the suite. Would you recommend it? We just need a low use colour printer that can take compatible toner cartridges and don't want to get tied down with leasing.

Thanks.

Hi there,

I have deployed about 5 or 6 of this model printer around the school. Don't seem to get many issues from them. Only major draw back is the replacement toners can be a bit on the pricey side

I would never recommend compatible toners, you invalidate warranties and compatible toners only shorten the length of the life of printers especially the newer ones. Printers back in the old HP LaserJet 4 days were solid and could handle them but new ones you are sentencing a printer to an early death.

I would love to use original toners but they just cost too much. In the past we have use Practices Supplies for the toner and we had the odd bad compatible but I just email them and a replacement arrives the next day. They also replace the printer if their toners damage the machine.

Practices Supplies sell compatible cartridges for £175 or remanufactured originals £295. New would cost £358 or go super cheap and buy these £30.75 for the set! https://www.amazon.co.uk/VICTORSTAR-Compatible-Cartridge-Magenta-WorkCentre/dp/B074DTTBRZ

I now look to purchase printers on their consumable costs now more than anything to ensure that originals are affordable. Last time I looked Lexmark came back at reasonable costs and they are not a bad device now, cheaper than the Xerox.
