Hi,

We have a few children that spend a lot of time in class on their Chromebooks and one has apparently been Googling some inappropriate stuff (primary school). There doesn't seem to be a way of revealing what that user was searching for in the Admin console, but there is a setting called Web and App activity that I can switch on. As the child is under 13 I need parental permission. Currently if I log in as that child on the device in question and look at their browser history, none is listed. Anyone got any suggestions on how we can monitor that child more effectively?

Another +1 for Securly, or check with your ISP if they offer a web filtering/monitoring solution. As part of keeping children safe in education you should already have a system in place to monitor pupils activity on the internet. (Note that this doesn't explicitly have to be software based) but there are affordable solutions now and they really should be in place.

Thanks for the replies, the internet in school is filtered by the supplier, who use Smoothwall. So I guess I ask them?

I would ask the supplier if Smoothwall Cloud Filter is included in your package. If not you may need to add it either via your supplier or by Smoothwall themselves. Haven't used Smoothwall but I figure this is the product that you are after:

Happy to help with a demo of Securly should you need it. We have both Cloud based filtering for Chromebooks with logged flagged events. We also offer Securly Auditor which covers keywords and images in Gmail and Google Drive.
