Group Policy

Hello,

 

Apologies if this not an appropriate thread. First time user.

 

I have been given the unenviable task or tidying up our Group Policies.

 

I have thus far had very basic use of Group Policy Management and have a question before I start if I may.

 

Does anyone have any advice to a quick an easy way to tell if a policy is used or not please?

 

I've noticed in lots of our policies the scope is empty, as displayed in the screenshot below. Does the mean its not used?

 

As I say I am pretty much a novice in this area so advice would be greatly appreciated.

If there’s no Scope, it’s unused. It may still be there to apply periodically though, like an installation policy or script.

 

Consolidating policies together, where that is appropriate, can speed up login times but don’t bunch too many disparate policies into one or it can be a nightmare to actually use day-to-day.

 

Look at using WMI and Item Level Targeting where appropriate too.
