Guest coquet636 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Bloody HD Audio..... . took off the original install of xp home as had a virus and decided to install xp pro as makes it the same as the rest here cannot get audio on it at all.. all is installed fine. got drivers of lenovo website and installed the xp hotfix for hd audio but still nowt.. tried 3 installs and still no good, any ideas appreciated
SYNACK Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Have you tried using the automatic online driver search bit to see if MS has a newer driver for it? Is the laptop reporting any errors in the device manager or is it just not outputting sound?
Chris_Jones Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Have you installed the motherboard/chipset drivers? sometimes these need installing before the Audio device is recognised.
Guest coquet636 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Installed the drivers for the chipset and used the lenovo automatic driver update to check drivers. Windows update has no drivers listed. Checked realtek for updated driver but none. The soundcard is listed under devices without exclamation mark but no sound. No events either. What hair i have is less now......
pete Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 http://www.edugeek.net/forums/ffs/12465-default-device-state-after-install-should-not-disabled.html By default the HD audio device is disabled. Intuitive, huh?

RobC Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That seems a strange one to me as I've done loads of rebuilds on the 300 N100's and I've never once had an issue with the audio drivers. It's possible that there could be a hardware issue at play here.
Guest coquet636 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Cheers for all the help but i have been a fool.. when the lenovo care system update picks it us as a realtek, the support website says its a realtek, and it works with headphones but not the internal speakers....... the answer is its a soundmax and you need to install that driver instead.. wel i suppose it was fun trying to fix... . .
