Do you need Solus3 installed on endpoints

Hi all,

My school had a shocking Autumn SIMS install where Solus 3 just said "one or more errors occurred" on 95% of workstations so you can tell how that day went. I've been looking at what went wrong and am still coming up with a blank. After spending most of the day testing I have started to wonder if I need to install Solus on workstations at all and am better off extracting the update and deploying it with PDQ.

 

I just tested updating from Summer to Autumn with PDQ deploy and it and it worked so am I missing something by not using this nightmare fuel software of Solus 3? I would still keep it on the server to deploy database updates to the server.

Here we just have a PowerShell script that runs on startup, I think, and checks the installed SIMS version against that on the server, copies the SIMS .net folder across to Program Files, registers the DLLs as required etc. so no, I don't think you really need SOLUS!

I suspected this was the case. I'm soo fed up dealing with SIMS updates which go to hell.
