Either I’ve had my head buried in the sand or totally missing this but just had an email Saying the upgrade to v18 is required by Q1 2022, due to the change of the 3CX FQDN endpoint!

 

Anyone come across this?

 

I emailed them back asking when in Q1 does the upgrade need to be in place and also that I’m not happy being forced into moving from a perpetual licence to an annual subscription model.

I was aware about 3 months ago we got a email about the fqdn requiring the update. Had a reminder in the last week or so.

Are you sure you can’t stay on perpetual. Sounds link it’s only if you want the free hosting.

 

 

Still on a Perpetual License?

Perpetual users must switch to an annual subscription to benefit from a 1 year free license + 1 year free hosting. It's a no brainer as the annual maintenance fee on perpetual licenses is now the same cost as a subscription. For a limited time we are also allowing customers with expired maintenance to switch (15.5 users)! To upgrade your perpetual license to an annual subscription:

 

Login to the Customer Portal.

Navigate to ‘Subscriptions’

Click ‘Trade-In’ and ‘Convert this subscription’

If you don’t have your customer portal login: Check what email is associated with your license key by logging into the management console. Reset the password. If you want to change your license’s email address, login to your 3CX Portal, and select your license.

Kindly note that system upgrades are required in order to ensure the best performance of your 3CX system.

 

If you wish, you can remain in perpetual licensing mode, however, it is less flexible in regards to upgrades or downgrades, in case you require a bigger size or changes in the edition.

 

As of June 2021, 3CX announced changes in pricing https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/new-pricing/.

 

The current cost for maintenance renewal is equivalent to 1 year of the annual subscription https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/perpetual/

You can trade-in if you wish, and receive 12 months subscription free of charge, thereafter renewal is required https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/pricelist/

 

So, need to see if keeping on a perpetual outweighs switching to an annual subscription.

If does look like v16 users have some more time.

 

 Version 16 customers will be provided with a patch for V16 Update 8, however this will be a short-term fix. Both updates extend the activation compatibility until November 2022.
