Is 'The print spooler service is not running' to do with all the recent printer issue

Just had the following email from a teacher,

'I've just gone to print and it says no printers installed. It was working yesterday! Any ideas?!'

'The error says - The print spooler service is not running'

Is this to do with all the recent printing issues reported on Edugeek?

BTW the user is a local admin user, which I thought wouldn't be effected by any of the recent issues, am I wrong?

Not that I've encountered at least. All the issues I saw related to the security patches never took down the spooler. Print Spooler crashes will be captured be in Event Viewer. Maybe that can help narrow down what is causing it.
