The Incredible Shrinking SIMS - have you seen this??

Recommended Posts

When performing certain actions in SIMS, including logging out of SIMS, the SIMS screen shrinks and there's nothing you can do to restore it besides log out of SIMS and back in again. SIMS will maximise but the font won't enlarge.

This happens on all of our laptops now, and all teachers only have laptops. It's fine on desktops, and fine if you plug your laptop into an external monitor.

We noticed this over 3 years ago and Capita nor our LA SIMS support had any clue or suggestions to fix.

Has anyone else noticed this or is it just us?

I notice this happen on screens where the scale is anything other than 100% in the display settings

As an example on a computer with multiple screens. One screen is set to 100% and the other is 150%

On the screen set to 100% it looks fine, If I drag sims to another screen set to 150% it will do the weird shrunken view and then stick with it even if you drag sims back to the screen with 100%

As above, SIMS does not handle scailing.

Some modules are OK. But if you click on say InTouch, the screen will shrink to 1/4 of the size.

After this context menus wont align with the mouse.

The primary display needs to be set to 100% scailing.

Either set an external display, or drop the resolution down till the scialing is 100%.

EG, our Surface Pros need to be dropped to 1440x900.

If you use SIMS via a remote app, ctrl+shift+end and log off.

Closing the session wont log you off the server - depending on how you have it all set up.

If you set the external monitor as default, this will need to be done with every different monitor set.
