A1 printer recommendations

Hi everyone,

 

We are looking to purchase an A1 printer as a whole school resource for printing posters etc. Has anyone recently purchased one that they can recommend? Ideally looking for something with low maintenance that does good quality images, I have been given a budget of <£2000 including a stand and warranty. I have spoken to some resellers who have recommended the Epson SureColor SC-T3100 240V which they estimated cost per copys 15-30p (seems rather cheap if you ask me)

I've installed a few Canon ipf670 over the years and they are really nice bits of kit. The model is discontinued but I would recommend the Canon products, used the wide format and various inkjet desktops over the years.

Not sure on costs, I've just installed the kit. Must of been as the last job I put 3 of them in. I suppose it all depends how much you are going to do. You need to look at the volume you are doing and do the math what it would cost v outsource etc. I know the ones I installed were doing work for other schools and earning money that way too.

I’ve got a canon ipf8400se which does up to A0 and is a great bit of kit.

 

We print canvas print, outdoor banners, pop up banners and also poster printer (mainly A2).

 

Poster prints are mainly for art course work.

 

What I like is the accountancy module that come with it (not sure if other models have it) put we put in cost of ink purchases, paper etc and it then works out total cost of a job by how much ink and paper is used.

 

We then charge departments only the cost of the job.

 

Typical cost of a poster print was approx £1 - £1.50

 

Outdoor banners typically cost £5-£10 and when we did some out other schools we charged approx £20

 

All depends on amount of ink used etc.
