OllieC Posted September 22, 2021 Posted September 22, 2021 Hi folks, Currently got two entrance doors with paxton compact readers on. I'd like to upgrade these and three sets of internal doors to Net2. I'm confident I can get the net2 gear cheaply enough second hand on ebay, and think I'm up to speed with wiring and installation, but I'm worried about fobs. To work with compact, we're using the packs of fobs with the shadowcards https://www.paxton-access.com/products/proximity-10-keyfob-pack-green/ Are these fobs going to be compatible with a net2 system? It says "Use with Compact and Switch2 systems" - I thought all paxton fobs were 125khz, is this comment just a common sense one as you wouldn't need shadow cards with the net2 system and vice versa with the net2 fobs, not much use for a compact/switch2 system as no shadow cards? Hoping I'm talking some sense, don't want to spend the couple of hundred on the kit to find we need to buy all new fobs! Cheers
jamesrhart Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Hi Ollie, We run net2 with fobs and ID cards, although our fobs are blue and specifically say net2 (Net2 proximity keyfobs - Pack of 10 | Paxton (paxton-access.com)), so I'm not sure but if you wanted to post one I would be happy to test and send back. The net2 readers we have also have MIFARE compatibility in case we move away from the proprietary tokens. 1
CamelMan Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 We jumped to Paxton last year and found that most things would register into the software via the Paxton reader but the actual readers on the doors were more picky. We found these that worked for ours (would recommend buying the smaller sizes and test with your readers!). https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TQCTHRZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 1
paulkerton Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 https://www.paxton-access.com/products/net2-proximity-keyfobs-pack-of-10/ is what you want. 1
Accura2k7 Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 It depends on what Paxton readers you have on your doors, ideally use the P50 MiFare range for the best compatibility.
steveg Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 We were formerly fully switch 2 with about 8 doors on it. I've now upgraded all the doors to Net 2 and all the old fobs and cards we had worked fine with the new readers and controllers, binned all the shadow cards when the last switch 2 controller went. Had about 5 different sets of cards and at least 3 different fobs. Not sure if we got lucky or if they are just all compatible.
OllieC Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 Thanks guys, I'm pretty happy to move forward and get some second hand gear in - going to rewire them all, absolute spaghetti at the moment. Strikes me as a fun half term job (along with everything else piling up!)
