Ubiquity wireless

Hi all

 

I am new to the school environment and have a couple of queries with our wireless system. I have used Meraki in previous role.

 

We have ubiquity wireless APs around the campus and DHCP is served by the local DC. Does ubiquity have the option to provide its own DHCP and not from the network.

 

Also, does ubiquity have an option to stop access to the local network?

Are you just using their APs or switches as well?

What are you using for a firewall?

The L3 features in UniFi are very limited.

Unifi are great VALUE but it'll be quite the stepdown from a Meraki network. You'd have to buy a Unifi security gateway if you want them to do DCHP. You can do guest wifi profile for ssid (that isolates them from lan traffic) not as amazing as an ap to firewall vpn using NAT that Meraki has but oh well..

Just the APs.

We have LGFL as ISP who look after firewall.
