Google group - sending to entire domain

I have a google group setup for a class.

Messages sent to it on Tuesday just went to that class.

Two messages sent today have been sent to the entire domain. I can't see any reason for it.

Any one had this happen before?

just to add, I discovered a user in the group called 'All Users', I've never seen that before but I have promptly deleted it!

I'd have to assume that 'All Users' is the name of another group that's been created in your domain. If you're using a sync tool to manage your Google groups, you will want to check things on that front, since it may be that a group named 'All Users' has been created by some such tool. If it has, it may just recreate it after you've deleted it.

It's worth reviewing the setting of the group for your class, to make sure that members of that group aren't able to just add other people and groups to it.

Google Admin -> Directory -> Groups -> (group name) -> Settings. Check the permissions for Manage members, in case it's allowing the wrong people to add other members or groups.

Also worth checking group creation privileges for your Google domain, to make sure that pupils and regular staff aren't able to create new groups and make a mess.

Google Admin -> Apps -> Google Workspace -> Groups for Business -> Sharing settings. Check your setting for the Creating groups option.

it looks like it is a setting you can set on a group. I created these groups using GAM so maybe I have inadvertently set the setting? I didn't know it existed so I wouldn't have checked for it.
